Dear Friend,

Today we witnessed the devastation by terrorism perpetrated in our capital, Jerusalem, in which countless people have been injured by a bomb loaded with dangerous shrapnel designed to cause maximum casualties. Whether this is an act to focus the world's attention away from the protests taking place in various Arab countries where masses clamor for change is immaterial; what matters is that this act occurred here in Israel and put so many lives at risk.

As the lessons from the tragic events in Japan are showing us all, we must be prepared for any eventuality in Israel - and use these lessons from the current situation to inspire us not only to fortify and protect our state, but find new ways to increase our capacity for the ideal emergency response.

One significant way we can do this is to construct a new underground protected emergency department in our hospital. To protect against nuclear, biological and chemical attack, the new emergency facility must be completed in the coming months at a cost of $8 million.

Hezbollah is gaining strength in Lebanon and it is only a matter of time before the next attack – as evidenced by what occurred in Jerusalem today.

We know you stand with Israel and that you are touched at times of crisis in Israel. Won't you please help us further the goals of the Medical Center by giving generously to this campaign? While we cannot, sadly, prevent every terrorist attack by those bent on our destruction, we can forge ahead with thoughtful preparation that will ensure the vitality of Israel for years to come. We very much appreciate whatever you can do and look forward to peaceful days ahead.

Most sincerely,
Amnon Rofe, MD
Chief Executive Officer

5 Great Reasons to Contribute to Bnai Zion Now

#5:  The Bnai Zion Medical Center was there for the citizens of Haifa during this terrible fire, treating smoke inhalation victims and being on Full Emergency Alert throughout the emergency situation.

#4:  An outright gift to Bnai Zion will give you a Charitable Tax Deduction for the 2010 calendar year.  Even though you may have had Capital Losses, those losses are limited to $3,000 per year and you cannot take the full tax benefit during the current tax year.

#3:  Establishing a Planned Gift with Bnai Zion will give you a guaranteed income for life and reduce your stress related to the stock market.

#2:  With the fluctuation of the exchange rate between the dollar and the shekel, your contributions are more important than ever, as the dollar does not go as far as it used to in Israel.

AND - the # 1 reason to contribute to Bnai Zion now:

The satisfaction of knowing you helped make a difference in so many people's lives will help give you back that warm fuzzy feeling that the stock market has taken away.

"Bnai Zion, the American Fraternal Organization, has throughout the years distinguished itself as a group of devoted people who, in addition to steadfast support of the Zionist ideal, have contributed to the welfare and well-being of the State of Israel. Particularly noteworthy among the projects you have promoted are the Bnai Zion Medical Center and the home for retarded children in Rosh Ha’ayin. This combination of moral support and charitable deeds is deserving of praise."
