April 2011

Dear friends,

We would like to introduce you to the Russian Division of Bnai Zion, revived in March 2006.

Bnai-Zion was founded over 100 years ago in the midst of mass Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe and has Russian roots, among others, and many current members of the organization have Russian roots as well.

Perhaps less well known is that as a result of the last wave of mass emigration from the former USSR, New York today is home to nearly 350,000 Russian-speaking Jews. Most of them, especially the older generation, have a great interest in the prosperity and security of Israel, and many of them are sympathetic to the mission of Bnai Zion and its humanitarian projects in Israel.

From this perspective, the rebirth of the Russian Division became a rather urgent and important action for the leadership of Bnai Zion. Congratulating the activists, donors and volunteers of the Russian Division on this fifth anniversary, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for their devotion to Israel and the mission of Bnai Zion, and for their generous donations, and time and effort they put into their volunteer work.

We wish all of them - and their families - wellbeing, good health and new achievements in this noble work.

Boris Kiderman                                 Oleg Liner
Vice President, Bnai Zion                 President, Russian Division
